On May 6th, South Side Showed out on their 2023 prom at Purdue Fort Wayne ballroom. From 8:00 to 11:00 juniors and seniors enjoyed music while being accompanied by friends.

“Overall, prom was a success! I saw everyone having a great time either enjoying the music or hanging around with friends. There were a couple dance circles formed, they had the crowd going wild,” said Jacob Marbach (12).

At 8:00 prom started off slow as per usual, about half of the crowd showed up around 9:00. Once things took off, all the tables were full, people were grabbing snacks and requesting songs for the DJ.

The snack bar was packed, there was a plethora of chips, drinks and cake. An unknown source brought chocolate mints and sparkling water, and Hapner supplied the cake for everyone. All of the snacks were a success, by the end of the night there were only a few remains of chocolate mints.

If you wanted your picture taken with friends you could head over to the magic mirror photo booth. Everyone was informed that three pictures were taken in sequence, giving you only a few seconds each to pose.

At around 10:00, the prom court nominees were sent up to the front. The votes were close, but Cristian Guevara (12) and Giselle Gutierrez (12) won prom king and queen.

“I was somewhat shocked when I won, but I definitely took time putting my name out there,” said Guevara. Putting passion towards advertising yourself may win you prom king!

In conclusion, you had to be there to experience it. No words can describe South Side’s 2023 prom.

All the tables had a center piece with flowers and lights.
