On Thursday, April 13th, South Sides Philo club took a field trip to Courageous Healing on Anthony Boulevard. The trip consisted of 14 girls and the Philo leaders; Ms. Amy Groh and Ms. Brittney Pearson.

I thought that it was very educational and actually interesting and was nice to see what we are donating to in motion,” Alice Kauffman (9) said.

Courageous Healing is a culturally centered holistic counseling organization located on Anthony Boulevard in Fort Wayne. The organization started running business in 2021 and was founded by Husband-Wife duo Janell and Aaron Lane.

The Philo members learned about the many services they offer including; one on one counseling, EMDR therapy, Spanish speaking counselors and reception, a postpartum support group, family and marriage counseling, massage therapy, dance and fitness classes, a relaxation room, and more.

The 2021-2022 school year was the first year that South Sides Philo started donating, making South one of the first schools to give donations.

“ We chose to donate to Courageous Healing because they are close to South Side and want to help this community specifically." Amy Groh said.

The money donated this year was a collection of funds from Semi-Formal and our Hat days. Out of the money raised, $110 of that was given to this organization.
