Sophomores, this is your time to shine! Anthis application is coming up and it's time for you to really decide what pathway you’re going into in future. Even if you’re not sophomores you can still plan now on what you want to become so you don’t have to stress  later on.

Anthis is a career academy that can help you get your dream career. In Anthis you can also build skills, explore a career field and engage in real world experiences. There’s only so much you can learn sitting behind a desk. But you can supplement your education with hands-on experience at the FWCS Career Academy. Which means you can earn your high school diploma while gaining practical experience as an automotive technologist, a chef, a hair stylist or a firefighter and more. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

“I think it’s a really great opportunity to apply for Anthis when you can because you’ll be able to work before college like a good career. Some high school students don't have that opportunity to be able to  work in a medical field,” Snow White (10) said.

It is very rare to get this opportunity, especially high school students because most people have to go to college for that. Sometimes some students don't even get to go to college because they could afford to pay for all the classes so take the opportunity while you can.

Anthis is one of the schools that is hard to get in, has high standards and strict rules. By high standards it meant no fooling around, must behave well and have good attendance. Anthis do not play when it comes to education.

“I think there are certain requirements like you have to behave well and follow directions. You also have to have good attendance,” Dynastii Jenkins (11) said.

You are more likely to get picked for Anthis if you have good grades and good attendance. Of course, you have to have good behavior because you represent the South Side and if you go and act bad, the SouthSide reputation would be bad.

If you were to ever get into Anthis, you would be faced with lots of careers that you never knew you could study right now. For example, there is cosmetology, where you can get a certificate by the time you finish high school. There is also early education, construction trades, precision machining and more.

“I think it can be beneficial especially for the police academy, you do not have to go to college to become a police officer you just have to be 21 and take the test and pass the test. If you go to Anthis they kind of put you through some of these experiences that police officers go through and then for EMT you have to be at least 17 but you can get your certificate. For CNA they show you some of the things you’ll be doing as a CNA and you can get your certificate. I think it’s very beneficial because it teaches you what you want to do when you graduate,” sophomore counselor Mary Pink-Pope said.

Like Mrs.Pink-Pope said you can just go to Anthis and be ready to work when you graduate high school. If you know what you want to be and it is in Anthis you should apply for it. It is better to alway try your hardest than never because if you apply for it and you get in, you can start your career when you are done with high school.

Anthis is the biggest pathway to your dream career. Everyone in South Side should be thinking about what they want to be after they graduate and should think about what classes they have to take in order to become what they want to be. You can even plan with Mrs.Pink-Pope about Anthis and what Anthis can afford you. If you ever have any question about Anthis you can go to your counselor and they’ll sit down with you and plan things out.
