Welcome to the 2025-2026' school year here at Walter's Middle School! 

My name is Matt Hartnett and I will be the Extensive Support Needs teacher for the 2025'-2026' school year. I have been working in the SPED department here at Walters for 15 years and I look forward to teaching and building a working relationship with all students and parents within our functional life skills program.

Daily Classroom Schedule: Our classroom schedule is flexible due to the nature of our student's needs and disabilities. Upon entering the classroom, the students are presented with a warm-up/morning activity that is social in nature to prepare them for the school day. We follow that up with a story time/interactive reading activity that aligns with the grade levels that all students in the classroom can access. We then have our students work on daily calendar and daily weather skills followed by a break outside of the classroom where we explore the school campus in order for them to become famiiar with the school surroundings and environment. Upon returning to the classroom, we work on IEP goals before going to PE class where our students are mainstreamed with the general education population. PE is followed by lunch break and the rest of thge school day consists of art activities, games and social activities as well as services that are provided in each student's IEP (speech and language, OT, PT, APE, etc.)

For dismissal, please remember to check thge daily calenday for early dismissal days. If you are picking up your son and/or daughter from school, please meet by the school bus location near the from of the school near the office.
