6th grade Math
Course Description
Grade 6 mathematics is about
connecting ratio and rate to whole number multiplication and division and using concepts of ratio and rate to solve problems;
completing understanding of division of fractions and extending the notion of number to the system of rational numbers, which includes negative numbers;
writing, interpreting, and using expressions and equations; and
developing understanding of statistical thinking.
Quarter 2
The Number System (continued)
I can compute fluently with multi-digit numbers including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions and decimals using the standard algorithm. (6.NS)
Rational Numbers
I can interpret comparisons of rational numbers and their absolute values. (6.NS)
I can solve problems involving find the distance between two points on the coordinate plane. (6.NS.8)
Quarter 3
Expressions and Equations
Geometry
I can solve real-world and mathematical problems involving area, surface area, and volume. (6.G)
