When I was in high school, I learned about the Human Genome Project. I was inspired by the idea of people all over the world coming together to solve otherwise insurmountable problems.  This led me to pursue a research career in genetics. I have worked in labs at UC Berkeley, UCSF, University of Chicago, and at a biotech in Denmark.  

Ten years ago, I joined the US Peace Corps and was a teacher in rural Ghana, West Africa.  Upon returning the the US, I transitioned to teaching and became a WW Teaching Fellow at Purdue University as part of the STEM Goes Rural program.  Since then I have taught a range of courses at both the middle and high school level.  I am excited to be back in San Diego and am looking forward to a great school year.
