WELCOME TO MS. CRUZ'S CLASS
Welcome to Ms. Cruz's Class!
Hi, my name is Cherifer Cruz. This is my sixth year teaching at WHF. I taught 2nd grade for five years and this is my first year teaching 3rd grade. I have additional experience tutoring 3rd-5th graders, teaching summer STEAM Camp, and coaching Girls on the Run.
I received my bachelors, teaching credential, and masters degree from California State University, San Marcos. This is my last year being called Ms. Cruz because I got engaged while visiting Japan this summer! Outside of school you are most likely to find me strength training at the gym, baking sweets and trying new recipes in my kitchen, or reading on the couch with my fluffy, gray cat Ollie. I enjoy traveling, camping, and backpacking during school holidays.

Parent Resources
Parents often ask how they can support their child in 3rd grade.
Here are some tips to support your child with learning:
Help your child establish and maintain healthy habits, such as eating a nutritious diet, stretching and exercising, and getting enough sleep.
Find a table, desk, or chair in a quiet and organized space that will help them focus when completing work at home.
Practice multiplication facts 1-10. Flashcards are still a great tool for memorization!
Offer them various opportunities for hands-on learning i.e. keep a writing journal, create an art portfolio, or conduct STEM experiments with household items.
One of the best things you can do for your child is give them meaningful life experiences outside of school. Spend time with family outdoors, cook dinner (and dessert!) together, have a family movie/game night, hike a local trail, plan a play date with friends, sign them up for sports or art classes, visit museums, relax at the beach, and check out books from the Fallbrook Public Library. Read many books and read often. Reading is the key to success. Children become stronger learners through exploring their environments with family and friends!
If you have specific questions regarding individualized resources and materials for your child's academic level and needs, please contact Ms. Cruz.
