Welcome to the 1st Student Conference on Biological Sciences!
We are pleased to be running the first edition of this premier student conference on biological sciences, organized by the Department of Biology, Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Tirana, Albania. The aim of the conference is to allow students and young aspiring scientists to present their work, broaden their knowledge, and experience scientific conferences and discussions. We hope SCBS 2021 will provide its attendees with high-quality presentations and dynamic discussions. The conference will have a competitive nature and the best presentations will be awarded prizes. Several additional side events and social activities that foster networking and exchange amongst students, alumni, and young researchers will take place before and during the conference days
General Information
Who can attend?
BSc, MSc, and first-year Ph.D. students (at the time of submission of the abstract) studying biology, biotechnology, medicine, or other life sciences disciplines focused on biological research.
Practical Information
Conference languages will be Albanian and English. Participants are free to submit and present their work in Albanian or in English.
Participation is free of charge.
The conference will be held virtually. Further details and the program will be published by December 12, 2021.
All authors of an abstract will receive the certificate of attendance.

Notification of acceptance and final assignments: December 7, 2021

We invite students interested to join the conference to the online workshop: “How to write a scientific paper for a conference?” The workshop will be held in Albanian by Prof. Dr. Aleko Miho on November 4, 2021, at 2.00 pm via Google Meet.

Pre-conference Workshop: How to prepare and present a good scientific presentation?
This workshop will cover presentation preparation and public speaking skills to enable participants to become more effective presenters. The workshop will be held online in Albanian by Dr. Marjol Meço on November 23, 2021, at 2.00 pm via Google Meet.

Conference Workshop: The interplay of biology with technology and other disciplines
This workshop aims to present to the audience the emerging information technologies that have an impact on biological research and explain why a cross-disciplinary approach is crucial for modern biology research. The workshop will be held during the days of the conference by Xhorxhina Shaulli, PhD candidate at Fribourg University, Switzerland.
Conference panel: Careers in biology
This panel aims to present to the audience the success stories and experiences of biologists working in different fields of biology.
