Prekindergarten Family Engagement Plan

2025-2026

Family engagement is the mutual responsibility of families, schools, and the community to build relationships that support student learning and achievement.  Family engagement supports family well-being and the continuous learning and development of children, families and educators.  Family engagement is fully integrated in the child’s educational experience and supports the whole child and is both culturally responsive and linguistically appropriate.

Family Engagement Goals and Strategies

(1) Facilitate family to family support with social events that encourage families to connect with one another, such as:

• Meet the teacher

• Carnival of Learning

• Grandparents’ Day Breakfast

• Veterans Day Celebration and Breakfast

• Thanksgiving Lunch

• Turkey Trot

• Parent-Teacher Conferences

• Field Day

• Award Assemblies

• Classroom Celebrations

 (2) Establish a network of community resources, such as:

• Lunch buddy program

• School Counselor

• Head Start Parent Liaison

• McKinney Vento Liaison

 (3) Increase family participation in decision making, such as:

• Provide opportunities for parent to be involved and have a voice: PTO, Campus and District site – based committees, District Strategic plan committees

• Foster comfortable open dialog between families and school by utilizing all available resources and means of communication:

• Daily Communication Journals

• Schoolmessenger

• Social Media

• Home Visits

• Parent – Teacher Conferences

• Phone calls

• Email

• SeeSaw

(4) Equip families with tools to enhance and extend learning, such as:

• Meet the Teacher

• Parent-Teacher Conferences

• Classroom Communications

• Character Education Program

• District Provided School Supplies

• SeeSaw

• Lexia

 (5) Develop staff skills in evidence – based practices that support families in meeting their children’s learning benchmarks, such as: 

• Parent – Teacher Conferences

• Pre-K Teachers will engage in ongoing professional development with Region 7 and online with CLI Engage.  They will maintain the required hours of training annually.

(6) Evaluate family engagement efforts and use evaluations for continuous improvement, such as:

• Provide an End-of-Year Survey to Parents

• Keep record of family participations/attendance in school events

• Log communications with families
