Mission: Positively impact and advance each student every day.
Vision: Foster one's greatest potential.
Our 7th grade students are actively engaging in a science lab investigating microplastics, which illustrates the Vandeventer Middle School mission to "positively impact and advance each student every day." The hands-on nature of the activity promotes critical thinking and teamwork, helping students develop a deeper understanding of environmental issues like microplastics. By addressing real-world problems, this lab empowers students to see the relevance of their learning and the potential impact they can have on their environment and community. This activity aligns with the mission by combining academic rigor with meaningful, real-world applications, fostering students’ growth and preparing them to tackle complex global challenges.
Martin Luther King Day is a federal holiday held on the third Monday of January. It celebrates the life and achievements of Martin Luther King Jr.
Martin Luther King was an important civil rights activist. He was a leader in the movement to end racial segregation in the United States. His most famous address was the "I Have A Dream" speech. He was an advocate of non-violent protest and became the youngest man to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. He was assassinated in 1968.
In 1968, shortly after Martin Luther King died, a campaign was started for his birthday to become a holiday to honor him. After the first bill was introduced, trade unions lead the campaign for the federal holiday. It was endorsed in 1976, and became law in 1983.

February 13th – FISD Deadline to change courses for the 25-26 school year.
"If you are interested in connecting with another family who speaks the same language as you, please fill out this form. At the end of October, we will share your information with any family that indicated the same language. For example, if you wrote that you speak Chinese, I will share the information you provided with other Chinese speakers. If you wrote Farsi, I will only share it with Farsi speakers."
Rincy Thomas and Laura Llamas-Crouch
Frisco High School hosted a Hispanic family event on Saturday Dec. 21st. Families attended the event and had a Holiday Dinner with Elvis Andrus (Texas Rangers Baseball player). This event helped welcome our VMS newcomer Spanish speaking families.
If you need to drop off something for your student, you will need to check in at the front office. To minimize classroom disruptions, we will only deliver glasses, house keys, and money to students during instructional time. All other items will be left on the shelf on the front office. Parents will be responsible for emailing their student that the item has been left in the front office for pick-up.
As a reminder, we do not release students between 3:30 p.m. - 3:45 p.m. If you need to check out your student early, please do so before 3:30 p.m. Regular carpool expectations apply for students being pick up after 3:30 p.m. Parents may not pick up students from the front parking lot from 3:30 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Parents/guardians will be allowed to eat lunch with their student(s). Below are the guidelines:
24 hour notice required
complete this form to schedule a lunch visitation
bring food for your student(s) only; food sharing is not allowed
check-in at the front office to receive a visitor badge

Free Online Tutorials
Frisco ISD teachers offer weekly online tutorials in the evenings. These tutorials are designed to further support our students and campus teachers, who are available for in-person assistance. Find the full list of subjects and tutorial dates/times here.
Accessing Class Curriculum Outlines
Frisco ISD parents can access the curriculum outline and pacing guides used Districtwide for each core course. District educators create and revise the curriculum outlines each year which is rooted in the statewide curriculum standards provided by the Texas Education Agency, called the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills.
GT Referral Window: Jan. 8-22
The referral window is January 8 - 22, 2025. Information regarding the referral process can be found here. A parent/guardian must complete this referral link to be considered. You may visit the district website for more information.
School closures are sometimes necessary to ensure the safety of Frisco ISD students and staff. FISD makes a final decision about whether to open schools no later than 5:30 a.m. each school day.
Frisco ISD will notify families via email and text. Parents and staff can subscribe to FISD text messages by texting “Y” or “Yes” to 67587. The District and campus websites will also be updated with alerts of school closures, as well as the District’s Facebook and X accounts. Learn more.
Why Attendance Matters
Here are three key reasons why student attendance is crucial:
Academic Achievement: Regular attendance keeps students on track with lessons and assignments, leading to better understanding and improved grades.
Skill Development: Consistent attendance builds essential skills like reading, writing, and problem-solving, which are vital for long-term success.
Socialization: Regular school attendance allows students to interact with peers, fostering important social skills such as teamwork, communication, and empathy.
Frisco ISD is committed to our students' success and looks forward to seeing everyone at school every day!
