National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM), launched in October 2004, continues to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity across our Nation, ensuring that we all have the resources we need to be safer and more secure online. The overarching theme for Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2023 is “Secure Our World.” #SecureOurWorld #CybersecurityAwarenessMonth
This year marks the 20th Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Like technology, Cybersecurity Awareness Month has grown rapidly. People now celebrate Cybersecurity Awareness Month all over the world! As we become more dependent on technology, it’s more important than ever to strengthen and
adapt our cybersecurity habits.
The Cybersecurity Awareness Month narrative articulates that cybersecurity doesn’t have to be scary. It can be easy to adopt secure habits and even provide you some peace of mind that your online life is safe. No matter your role as an individual or consumer, it’s important to take steps to protect your online information and privacy. We encourage you to engage in this year’s efforts by creating your own cyber awareness campaigns and sharing the message with your peers.
4 Things You Can Do
Throughout October, CISA and NCA will highlight key action steps that everyone should take:
Create Strong Passwords and use a Password Manager
Turn on Multifactor Authentication
Recognize and Report Phishing
Update Your Software
Review the #SecureOurWorld tip sheets below:
The following resources will provide additional information and help you and your child(ren) stay safe online.
As our dependence on technology grows, and the threat of cyber attacks increases, we encourage you to set aside time to discuss the importance of creating greater security in our online world.

We encourage our students to wear PINK every Thursday during the month of October.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month, held in October every year, aims to promote screening and prevention of the disease, which affects one in eight women in the United States every year and 2.3 million women worldwide. Known best for its pink theme color, the month features a number of campaigns and programs — conducted by groups ranging from breast cancer advocacy organizations to local community organizations to major retailers — aimed at:
supporting people diagnosed with breast cancer, including metastatic breast cancer
educating people about breast cancer risk factors
stressing the importance of regular screening, starting at age 40 or an age that’s appropriate for your personal breast cancer risk
fundraising for breast cancer research
This information is provided by Breastcancer.org.
We welcome our students to celebrate the National Walk & Roll to School Day on October 4th. Our amazing cheerleading team and percussionists will be there to cheer you as you walk/bike to school! Prizes will be awarded to the first 50 students to arrive by foot/bike.

Create an Account via www.kroger.com
A digital account is needed to participate in Kroger Community Rewards.
Link your Card to an organization.
Sign in to your digital account.
Enter the name or NPO number (YM170) Vandeventer Middle School PTA
Select the appropriate organization from the list and click “Save”.
