Administrative Information
Each year we have found it necessary to remind students that their words matter, especially when it comes to making a threat. The following information will be shared with all secondary students; we would also like to extend an opportunity for you, as parents, to view this information at home and consider discussing it with your student(s) as a family.
Our goal is to ensure the safety and security of all students and staff, and it's important that our students understand how seriously we must take all threats.
Thank you,
Frisco ISD

Depression Awareness & Suicide Prevention
The State of Texas has mandated school districts provide a comprehensive suicide prevention program at all public junior, middle and high schools (House Bill 1386/Suicide Prevention). This mandate requires prevention efforts with parents, staff members, and students. It is easy to misread depression as normal adolescent turmoil; however, depression, which is among the most common of mental illnesses, appears to be occurring at a much earlier age. Treatment is available for depression. It is a leading risk factor for suicide. To proactively address these issues, Vandeventer Middle School is offering depression awareness and suicide prevention training as part of the research based and evidence supported SOS/Signs of Suicide Prevention Program adopted by Frisco ISD. The program increases help-seeking behaviors for students concerned about themselves or a friend.
We will be offering depression awareness and suicide prevention to our students on Tuesday, September 26th. Please refer to the email communication from Tuesday, September 12th to preview the lesson and for the OPT OUT option for parents/guardians.

All absences, both excused and unexcused, count toward the state’s compulsory attendance law. When a student's attendance drops below 90% but remains at least at 75% of the days the class is offered, the student may earn credit for the class or a final grade by completing a plan approved by the principal. All absences can be easily submitted in the form at the top of our campus website (see below). Learn more about the attendance policy.
Beginning, September 5th, parents/guardians will be allowed to eat lunch with their student(s); however, we are asking for a 24 hour advance notification by completing this form. There will be a maximum of 2 visitors/family per lunch per day on a first come first serve basis. Campus office staff will provide an email confirmation to the requestor if the lunch reservation is approved. The requestor MUST receive this email confirmation to redeem the reservation on the date/time requested. All visitors must check-in at the front office upon arrival. Visitors may only bring lunch for their student.
Frisco ISD utilizes the School Messenger text messaging service on a limited basis to communicate timely information such as school closures/delays or campus emergencies. Parents, not sure if you are signed up? Opt-in by texting “Y” or “Yes” to 67587.
The Tech Depot will be open before school from 8 a.m. - 8:20 a.m. and during Viking Time from 1:31 p.m. - 2:13 p.m.
Students will need to complete the device repair form before coming to Tech Depot. (The link is located in the Student Portal under Device Repair tile OR it is in the student bookmarks, until Chromebook Troubleshoot. Here is the link for your reference: https://bit.ly/fisdstudenthelp)
Once students have completed the Device Repair form, they can stop by Tech Depot in A125 before school or during VT Monday-Friday.
