Administrative Information
Trustees approved the 2023-24 Student Code of Conduct at the regular August Board meeting. Families need to be aware of the updated consequences for vapes, fighting, and getting high on campus. There is a mandatory 10-day disciplinary placement for students who use or possess any portion of a vape on or within 300 feet of school property of a school-related activity. In addition, students who have a substance that can get them high such as hemp, CBD, THC or Delta-8 will receive a 45-day disciplinary placement. Please talk with your children about the very serious consequences. More information can be found here. Parents are also encouraged to view this video highlighting the updates.

Future City Competition – Building STEAM Skills
WE PUT THE "E" IN STEM:
Using a hands-on, inquiry-based strategy, the Future City program gives students a fun way to tackle real-world problems while building their STEM skills. Students work in teams, with the guidance of a teacher and an engineer-mentor to design a livable city of the future. Cost is minimal and any public, private, parochial or home school is eligible to enter. The 2024 THEME: Electrify your Future – with environmentally safe and healthy energy.
NORTH TEXAS OFFERS TWO FUTURE CITY PROGRAMS:
FUTURE CITY COMPETITION FOR 6-8TH GRADES - Students employ engineering concepts to design their future city, write an essay on the theme topic, build a scale model, and record a team presentation of their city concept.
FUTURE CITY JUNIOR FOR 4-5TH GRADES - In this introduction to Future City, the student teams write an essay about their solution to the theme challenge and build a scale model illustrating that solution in their future city. (Junior Competition website: www.dfwfuturecity.org/team_junior.html).
This will be the 24th North Texas regional event. Each year, hundreds of students participate. We need your help to notify teachers of this exciting, worthwhile opportunity. Contact me with questions or visit our website www.dfwfuturecity.org.
NOTE:
Future City is aligned with the national standards for math, science and technology education and has been approved by NASSP for inclusion in the National Advisory List of Student Contests and Activities.
The handbook and website present several STEM activities that offer educators project-based learning opportunities that support the cross-disciplinary, STEM learning experience. These activities, combined with the Future City program, provide a masterful incorporation of practical application to the current curriculum content.

All absences, both excused and unexcused, count toward the state’s compulsory attendance law. When a student's attendance drops below 90% but remains at least at 75% of the days the class is offered, the student may earn credit for the class or a final grade by completing a plan approved by the principal. All absences can be easily submitted in the form at the top of our campus website (see below). Learn more about the attendance policy.
Beginning, September 5th, parents/guardians will be allowed to eat lunch with their student(s); however, we are asking for a 24 hour advance notification by completing this form. There will be a maximum of 2 visitors/family per lunch per day on a first come first serve basis. Campus office staff will provide an email confirmation to the requestor if the lunch reservation is approved. The requestor MUST receive this email confirmation to redeem the reservation on the date/time requested. All visitors must check-in at the front office upon arrival. Visitors may only bring lunch for their student.
Frisco ISD utilizes the School Messenger text messaging service on a limited basis to communicate timely information such as school closures/delays or campus emergencies. Parents, not sure if you are signed up? Opt-in by texting “Y” or “Yes” to 67587.
The Tech Depot will be open before school from 8 a.m. - 8:20 a.m. and during Viking Time from 1:31 p.m. - 2:13 p.m.
Students will need to complete the device repair form before coming to Tech Depot. (The link is located in the Student Portal under Device Repair tile OR it is in the student bookmarks, until Chromebook Troubleshoot. Here is the link for your reference: https://bit.ly/fisdstudenthelp)
Once students have completed the Device Repair form, they can stop by Tech Depot in A125 before school or during VT Monday-Friday.
