Registration for the 2024-2025 school year has officially begun. We look forward to our rising freshman joining the Redhawk family! All of our amazing middle schools are working diligently to provide your students with all of the information necessary to help plan their high school course experiences. We are working as teams to share this information both in-person and electronically and we are hopeful that the videos and presentations along with counselor guidance will serve as a helpful guide in the registration process. You will receive more information on creating a four-year-plan and course selection soon, in the meantime, we wanted to make sure you are aware of an upcoming meeting we have planned for you at Liberty. Details are below. We plan to have the LHS Planning Guide ready for you prior to the meeting.

Cross Country Meet @ CHS
Frisco ISD Guidance and Counseling team, it's time for us to shine a light on suicide prevention and awareness as we #REACHOUT. Please join your fellow counselors and friends at the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's Out of the Darkness Walk. We will walk together on the morning of November 4th at 9:30. Check-in begins at 8:30.
The event kicks off with Beginning Ceremonies to recognize and honor all participants who have been affected by suicide. It’s a moving and inspirational experience. Conveniently located, the walk will take place at the Windsong Ranch neighborhood in Prosper and winds through approximately 2 miles of scenic trails.
Let’s show the community our dedication to saving lives through suicide awareness and prevention. Click the link below or scan the QR code and sign up under team FISD #REACHOUT.
Can’t wait to see you there!
The Texas Department of State Health Services has changed the requirements for when Texas schools are to conduct spinal screenings, per House Bill 1076. State law says that schools must screen girls for spinal problems two times, once in the fall semester of 5th grade and once in the fall semester of 7th grade. Boys will be screened one time in the fall semester of 8th grade.
Trained screeners will check your child for signs of spinal problems like scoliosis.
Catching a spinal problem early can make the treatment much easier. Not treating spinal problems can lead to serious health problems.
The screening is simple. Screeners will look at your child’s back while he or she stands and bends forward.
Important Recommendations:
Students should bring shorts to school for the exam.
Girls should wear a thin t-shirt or a sports bra or a two-piece swimsuit top underneath their shirt on exam day.
If girls are wearing a sports bra or a two-piece swimsuit top underneath their shirt, it is recommended they remove their shirt for the screening.
Boys and girls will be screened separately and one at a time.
The school nurse will notify you if your child does not pass the screening. This screening is not a medical exam. Your child still needs to see a doctor for checkups. Exceptions:
The school has documentation from a licensed professional that the individual is actively under medical care for one or more spinal problems.
The school has documentation that the screening was performed by a qualified individual at the appropriate age.
The school has an acceptable affidavit stating one of the following:
The spinal screening will be conducted by a qualified individual outside the school. The parent or guardian must then provide proof the screening has occurred within 60 days of the signed affidavit.
The spinal screening conflicts with religious tenets.
Thank you for your cooperation.

Frisco ISD strives to provide transparent and accessible information to parents and guardians. In an effort to continue to provide resources for our families, specifically in the library, we are updating our parent resources to provide you with access to a new feature that allows for guardians to create prohibited book lists. This list can include books that parents or guardians would like for their students to not read at this time. This feature creates another avenue for families to become involved in what their child is reading, and have more tailored access to library materials for their child.
For more information regarding this resource, please visit your campus website, and look for the icon titled Library Book Preferences. There is also more information available on the Frisco ISD website. We hope that you find this resource to be a helpful tool and appreciate your partnership in ensuring that our library is a welcoming place for all children.
Sincerely,
Frisco ISD Library Services
