Outside of School Volunteer Opportunities for NHS Members & Propective Members

NHS ONLY HHS Peer Tutoring - All members of NHS  must complete 5 hours of peer tutoring hours for the year. Students must complete these hours within the Media Center or via Google Meet. Please look out for Remind 101 updates for subjects you can tutor.  

Howell PAL - Howell Township Police Athletic League is a non-profit organization whose mission is to foster positive relationships among the youth and police officers in our community. Through athletics, recreation, education and community service we provide an engaging, safe outlet for all children to reach their potential and to be involved in the Howell community in many different capacities. Brandywine Assistance Living Howell- Howell NHS has worked closely over the years to help Senior Citizens at Brandywine. Located on 100 Meridian Place, Howell NJ 07731. Howell Township Public Library- Volunteers play an important role at the Howell Library. NHS Members are welcome to serve their community by donation their time to help at the library. Contact the Librarian by email or at (732) 938-2300

Holiday Express-  Howell NHS Members have worked with Holiday Express on their mission to deliver music, food, gifts, financial support and friendship to those with the greatest need for the gift of human kindness during the holiday season and throughout the year. Freehold YMCA- The YMCA is a mission driven volunteer based community organization that has been in existence for over 150 years. For over 100 years the YMCA of Western Monmouth County has been enriching the lives of countless families and individuals in Monmouth, Mercer and Middlesex counties. The Food Bank of Monmouth & Ocean County- Volunteers are the heart of the FoodBank. They organize food drives, sort donations, fill agency orders and help with office work and mailings.  Jersey Shore Animal Center - The mission of the Jersey Shore Animal Center is to rescue, care for and rehome unwanted, abused, abandoned and sick animals. St. Catherine of Siena Church, Farmingdale NJ-  Is in need of volunteers for the upcoming 2023 – 2024 school year for there religious education program. They are looking for catechists (teachers) and catechist aides that will teach religious education to children in 1st through 6th grades. The program starts mid - September and ends mid – May. It will be 1 day a week for 1.5 hours. Candidates must be 16 years old or older. Please contact St. Catherine’s for more information. Howell High School Clubs that you can join and become an active member in the club. These Howell Clubs help earn additional in-school volunteer hours. 

Knit for Life -Want to learn a new skill? Come join knit for life. Established knitters help new or others looking to brush up on knitting, we have needles and yarn. Members will meet in room C212 on designated Thursdays and will knit hats for premature infants and scarfs for survivors of Relay for Life. (Meetings DO NOT count as Hours)

C.A.R.E./C.A.R.E for KIDS- C.A.R.E. is a philanthropic club. It is Howell High's service organization offering support and assistanceto the ill and needy of our high school and community. Students will also visit children hospitals in the area to volunteer their time afterschool and assistin the hospital by interacting with children  who are ill. Visits to the hospital are coordinated by students on their own time and transportation is provided by a student's family.(Meetings DO NOT count as Hours)

Interact - Interact will be a club for students to “interact” with peers who have learning disabilities. It is a great opportunity for people to get to know each other, get students involved in extracurricular activities, and gain volunteer hours.
