FREYBERG HOME LEARNING

Nau mai, haere mai and welcome to our Freyberg Home Learning site.

As we continue to respond to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic, we recognise that at different times and for different reasons, many of our tamariki will not be able to join us for onsite learning.

This resource aims to support these children and their whānau as they continue to learn from home.

As always, please do not hesitate to contact us if you require additional support with your child's learning.

Noho ora mai,

Maria Dopheide

Principal - Freyberg Community School

Staff have been working hard to ensure we have an online programme to offer our students that will best cater for their needs, no matter what situation we find ourselves in, over the next few months.

Because of the large number of absent students we currently have, we are moving to the next stage of our COVID-19 response model which is a hybrid model of both online and face to face learning. From March 1st 2022, our school website will have more resources available in the ‘Home Learning’ tab. These resources will reflect the current topics that each team is learning about this term. The content on our website will be supplemented by our staff with extra work through Seesaw, Google Classroom (Team Four only) and video conferencing where appropriate. As we continue to cater for our onsite learners, staff will not be able to send home differentiated work to those at home but, as always, will continue to provide this for those students at school.

As a teaching team we have discussed our teaching expectations and as always, the way that these are presented will be slightly different for each teacher. It will not be the same as if the teacher was teaching your children in the classroom - but we believe it is about providing them with learning experiences that continue to develop within your children the desire to grow their minds and continue to love learning.

We know that there are parents working from home and having the added stress of online learning might be a lot. Our expectation of you is to work with what best suits your family - we don't want to add more stress to working families with the pressure of feeling that your job is now to become the teachers of your children. We are here to support you all and your children's learning through this difficult time.

If you have any questions or comments please contact your child's teacher directly, or the school office at admin@freyberg.school.nz.
