I teach my students what DOK is. I want them to be vested in their own education to value the quality of the learning. This week let's talk about the students role in DOK. How do we get them to give high quality feedback?

Teaching Differently with DOK

Depth of Knowledge (DOK) is the 4 levels of critical thinking. As always, webinars are interactive and questions are encouraged. We will look at what the 4 levels of DOK are and why it's important.

DOK Debate

DOK (Depth of Knowledge) is the 4 levels of critical thinking. DOK is challenging and really requires your own critical thinking application to deciding what DOK level a question is.

In this workshop we will look at some questions and DEBATE the DOK level and try to see if we can enhance the question/task to increase the DOK level.

Copy the slides and add what you think an activity at each level is. Then reassign each of the samples.

What is DOK?

Did you say "What is DOK?" This session is for you! Depth of Knowledge (DOK) is the levels of critical thinking. I teach math and shockingly most of the math book is DOK 1... low level critical thinking. All subjects... all grade levels... we need to evaluate the critical thinking levels of what we ask our students. I literally on ALL assignments label the DOK level of the activity, even if it's DOK ZERO (check in for attendance.) This helps me to strive to better. In an age of Google DOK 1 can be googled, we have to kick up a notch the kinds of questions we ask and the tasks we want students to do.
