Welcome to

Ms. Henkel's  Class

I am very excited to start the 2023-2024 school year.  I look forward to meeting each student and getting to know each student.  Let's have a great school year, Little Giants!

Ms. Henkel's

    Math Class

  Math Modeling and Reasoning

This course will be different than any other math course that you have ever taken.  This class will be a student centered class.  The teacher will be a facilitator of learning throughout the year.  Students will do some individual work, but most will be done as a group.  The material will be presented using relevant, interesting and fun activities/explorations. Students will be doing problems where the goal is to understand the concepts and justify your answers, not just find the correct answer! Students will use the concepts learned in Algebra 1 and Geometry and apply them to everyday life situations.

AP Calculus AB

AP Calculus AB is designed to be the equivalent of a first semester college calculus course devoted to topics in differential and integral calculus.  The course focuses on students’ understanding of calculus concepts and provides experience with methods and applications. Through the use of big ideas of calculus (e.g., modeling change, limits, derivatives, and integration), the course becomes a cohesive whole, rather than a collection of unrelated topics.  The course features a multi-representational approach to calculus, with concepts, results, and problems expressed graphically, numerically, analytically, and verbally.  A sustained emphasis on clear communication of methods, reasoning, justifications, and conclusions is essential. Students will use technology regularly to reinforce relationships, to confirm written work, to implement experimentation, and to assist in interpreting results.
