Purpose
The Fremont Ross Cheerleading program focuses on:
Enthusiasm – Promoting school spirit and pride.
Excellence – Striving for the highest performance standards.
Example – Demonstrating positive character and leadership.
Eligibility & Tryouts
Minimum 1.5 GPA required; academic probation may apply if standards are not met.
A current physical is required before tryouts.
Freshmen are only eligible for the Freshman Team; JV and Varsity are open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
The top 10 scoring athletes from tryouts who select competition will be placed on the Competition Team.
Commitment & Expectations
Cheerleading is a year-round commitment. Athletes are required to:
Attend all summer camps, practices, and clinics.
Participate in mandatory tumbling classes.
Learn all material before the season starts, including cheers, dances, and routines.
Practice & Game Expectations
Regular practices occur 2-3 times per week.
Attendance at all games and competitions is mandatory.
Cheerleaders must maintain a professional appearance (proper uniform, no jewelry, appropriate nail length, and secured hair).
Game engagement includes performing at least five jumps per quarter.
Competition Team Requirements
Attendance at all practices and competitions is mandatory.
Athletes must be fully committed for the entire season (June-March).
Additional costs for travel and competition fees apply.
Conduct & Discipline
Cheerleaders are expected to uphold exemplary behavior at all times, in and out of uniform.
Social media activity should reflect good sportsmanship.
Substance use (alcohol, vaping, drugs) will result in disciplinary action, including possible removal from the team.
Excessive absences (excused or unexcused) may result in removal.
Financial Commitment & Fundraising
Cheerleading involves financial responsibilities, including uniforms, camps, and competition fees.
Mandatory team fundraisers help cover costs.
Payments must be made on time to avoid late fees or removal from the team.
Parental Responsibilities
Support the coaching staff and team policies.
Ensure athletes arrive on time and attend required events.
Address concerns directly with the coach rather than discussing with other parents or cheerleaders.
