Purpose:
The Fremont Middle School Cheerleading program is built on:
Enthusiasm – Promoting school spirit and pride.
Excellence – Striving for the highest performance standards.
Example – Demonstrating positive character and leadership.
Eligibility & Tryouts:
Minimum 1.5 GPA required; academic probation may apply if standards are not met.
A current physical is required before tryouts.
Open to incoming 7th and 8th graders.
Team Structure:
Football Season – One combined 7th & 8th grade team.
Basketball Season – Separate 7th and 8th grade teams (if numbers allow).
Competition Team – Separate tryout required; participation is a big commitment.
Commitment & Expectations:
Cheerleading is a year-round commitment. Athletes are required to:
Attend all summer camps, practices, and clinics.
Learn all cheers, chants, and routines before the season starts.
Prioritize cheerleading responsibilities over other extracurricular activities.
Practice & Game Expectations:
Regular practices occur 2-3 times per week.
Attendance at all games and competitions is mandatory.
Cheerleaders must maintain a professional appearance (proper uniform, no jewelry, appropriate nail length, and secured hair).
No cell phone use during practices or games (except at halftime).
Competition Team Requirements:
Separate tryout required.
All practices and competitions are mandatory.
Parents are responsible for transportation to competitions.
Conduct & Discipline:
Cheerleaders represent the school and must exhibit exemplary behavior.
Social media activity should reflect good sportsmanship.
Substance use (alcohol, vaping, drugs) will result in disciplinary action.
Excessive absences or tardies may lead to benching or removal from the team.
Financial Commitment & Fundraising:
Cheerleading involves financial responsibilities, including uniforms, camps, and competition fees.
Mandatory team fundraisers help cover costs.
Failure to make payments on time may result in late fees or removal from the team.
Parental Responsibilities:
Support the coaching staff and team policies.
Ensure athletes arrive on time and attend required events.
Address concerns directly with the coach, not through other parents or athletes.
