2023 Season Detail: A typical growing season for the Upper Moutere area with above average rainfall. The harvest period had moderate rainfall with typical nighttime temperatures. On average, the harvest was slightly later than normal across varietals, with some blocks slightly early in achieving aroma targets. Aromas were incredibly expressive at harvest and lupulin quantities were exceptional. Tropical fruit complexity was found across most of our varietals. Grown with love, full of terps and thiols.
Sunrise Valley Terroir: Clay rich loam and river gravels at the head of Nelson's iconic Moutere Valley make up our soils. The maritime microclimate of the valley has exceptionally high UV levels relative to growing degree days. When combined with the excellent diurnal temperature range, it allows us to develop exceptionally high levels of aromatic compounds in our hops.
