Welcome to Science

Our students are amazing....we always try to ensure that students are actively involved in lessons as much as possible, covid secure. This means as much practical work as possible in these unprecedented times , and of course your child's safety is our number one priority.

If students have long hair, we ask them to carry a hair bobble so they can tie it back during experiments. They absolutely must wear safety glasses when doing experiments - these are provided by us, but please make sure students who wear prescription glasses know that they must wear safety glasses as well as (or instead of) these, as regular glasses are not chemical proof and they don't protect all of the eye.

It would also be really useful (though not essential) if students can bring a calculator and 30cm ruler to science lessons with them. If they don't have this equipment, not to worry, as we have some we can loan out in lessons.

Lessons contain a mix of theory and practical work, mathematical and scientific skills, individual and group work, projects and three formal assessments.
