NJDOE: FTS is High Performing

Greetings Fredon Families,

I hope your summer is off to a great start. I wanted to pass along some GREAT news that we just received from the New Jersey Department of Education.

Pursuant to the requirements of N.J.A.C. 6A:30, the Fredon Township School District has undergone the New Jersey Quality Single Accountability Continuum (NJQSAC) review. The Executive County Superintendent and team conducted a review of our self-assessment District Performance Review (DPR) document and analyzed district performance against critical indicators in all five NJQSAC areas: instruction and program, fiscal management, governance, operations, and personnel.

Based on the above monitoring, we received the following statement from the NJDOE Assistant Commissioner:

"I am pleased to inform you that your district has satisfied at least 80% of the weighted indicators in each of the five areas of the NJQSAC review process and has been designated as "high performing." The Commissioner will recommend to the State Board of Education that your district be certified as providing a thorough and efficient system of education, for a period of three years or until the next NJQSAC review. Congratulations on this accomplishment."

This is yet another accolade that our district has received this year and one more confirmation that we have a wonderful district with great students, staff, and school community members. Thank you all for your support as we continue to move our high performing district forward!

Sincerely,

Matthew L. Beck, Chief School Administrator

FREDON TOWNSHIP SCHOOL RANKS #1 IN THE COUNTY

& 96TH OUT OF 2,088 SCHOOLS IN THE STATE

I wanted to pass along a press release that confirms something that we all already know....Fredon Township School is an EXCELLENT school!

From nj.com: "New Jersey’s latest school grades are out, giving parents in every community a snapshot of what the state thinks of their local schools. The state Department of Education on Tuesday released the new scores, which are graded on a scale of 0-100 and consider standardized test results, graduation rates and other factors. Schools that have third grade and higher received a score from 0-100 and well a percentile rating, which shows how they compare to other high schools or other middle/elementary schools. A 50th percentile rating is considered average."

Using the above criteria and ranking us against EVERY school in the state (2,088 schools to be exact) FREDON TOWNSHIP SCHOOL RANKS #96 OUT OF 2,088! with a score of 86.66. This places our school in the 96th percentile!

You can access full articles regarding this report by clicking the following links:

nj.com article | patch.com article

Please keep in mind that the data used to calculate these scores is just a portion of what experts use to measure the success of school districts. With that being said, when you measure our school against all other schools in the state using the same indicators for measurement, we stack of very high! Thank you to our entire staff, students, and parents. Without a total team effort, our continued success would not be possible.

Have a great day!

Sincerely,

Matthew L. Beck, Chief School Administrator

2018 - 2019 GOVERNOR EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR AWARD!

It is with great pride and pleasure that I would like to announce to you this year's recipient of the Governor Educator of the Year Award!

As you know, each year parents and teachers are offered the opportunity to nominate our staff members for the GEOY award based on the program's criteria. Once nominations are received, we gather a committee that consists of teachers, last year's GEOY recipients, administration (myself excluded as I moderated the meeting), a parent, and a Board of Ed. member. This committee met yesterday afternoon with multiple very deserving teachers as nominees. After reviewing the nominations and scoring them in accordance with the program rubric, I am proud to announce that

Courtney Petermann is this year's recipient of the Governor Educator of the Year Award!!

Mrs. Petermann will proudly represent Fredon Township School this spring at a luncheon where all GEOY recipients in Sussex County will be honored. Please join me in congratulating Ms. Petermann on this honor of being nominated and selected by parents and her peers!
