"Franklin Welcomes New Superintendent"

FES Welcomes New Superintendent, Mrs. Denise Grant

Denise Grant of Norwich has been selected by the Franklin Board to serve as the next Superintendent.   Mrs. Grant notes that she is thrilled to have been appointed to this position, in a district where everyone she has encountered has been a complete pleasure to meet.  She looks forward to connecting with all members of the FES family, including students, staff, and families.

Mrs. Grant earned her BA in English from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester.  She completed her graduate work at the University of Connecticut. She holds a Master’s in Public Administration and a sixth year certificate in Education Administration.

Mrs. Grant retired from full-time work in 2021 after a thirty-one year teaching and administrative career at NFA, where she taught English, served as the Head of the English Department, and then moved to a full-time administrative position as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction.

Mrs. Grant’s first superintendent role was in Bozrah.  During her tenure there, the school was recognized by the Connecticut Department of Education as a school of distinction in four different categories for showing growth in student performance.  She has also spent several years supervising student teachers in schools throughout eastern Connecticut.

Mrs. Grant and her husband Dwayne are the proud parents of four grown children:  Peter (Jessica), Michael (Paige), Allie, and Danny.  Pete, Allie, and Jess are teachers in local schools.  The Grants also have one grandson, Erik.

In addition to her work in education, Mrs. Grant is committed to St. Vincent de Paul Place in Norwich, where she volunteers at the food pantry each Wednesday.

"The Board feels that Denise is a perfect fit for our Franklin family. We are excited to begin working with her." - Mrs. Amy Konow, BoE Chairperson
