J. 2024-2025 DRAFT FES Board of Education Proposed Itemized Estimate of Expenses 24-25 DRAFT Updated 5/8/24
I. Revised BoE Proposed 24-25 Budget.pdf

Dear FES Families,

The new 24-25 Board of Education (BoE) Proposed Budget Presentation is now available. Due to a reduction of $150,588 made during the April 30 Board of Finance meeting, we had to adjust the "Maintain Current Programming" portion of our budget proposal to a negative 2.29%.

I want to assure you that we have made every effort to avoid directly affecting student programming with this reduction. Please also know that we cannot reduce the proposals in special education, high school tuition, transportation, and staff benefits as they are required by law or contractual obligations.

Please refer to Slide 22 of the presentation for a detailed breakdown of the entire budget. Slide 22b shows where the reductions were made. We will present this budget at the Town Meeting tonight, May 9, at 7:00 p.m. at the Firehouse. Please click the links above to view the presentation or the Itemized Spreadsheet.

The Board of Finance approved our BoE Proposed Budget following the Town Hearing on May 9. Thank you to those of you who were able to attend. The BoE Proposed Budget will be voted on by the Franklin Community later this month.  The date of the vote will be determined at the BoF meeting on Tuesday, May 14.

If you have any questions or concerns about the budget, please do not hesitate to contact me at gkeith@franklinschoolct.org.

Sincerely,

Mr. Greg Keith
