Annual Town Meeting, Tonight, Thursday, May 30, 2024, 7:00 PM - Franklin Municipal Complex (Fire House) - 5 Tyler Drive
Dear FES Families,
The updated 24-25 Board of Education (BoE) Proposed Budget Presentation is now available (see below). A reduction of $150,588 was made during the April 30 Board of Finance meeting, resulting in our "Maintain Current Programming" portion of the budget proposal being adjusted to a negative 2.29%. We want to assure you that we have made every effort to minimize the impact on student programming due to this reduction. It's important to note that we are unable to reduce the proposals in special education, high school tuition, transportation, and staff benefits as they are required by law or contractual obligations. For a detailed breakdown of the entire budget, please refer to Slide 22 of the presentation, where you can see where the reductions were made on Slide 22b.
The Board of Finance approved our adjusted BoE Proposed Budget following the Town Hearing on May 9. The Franklin community will vote on the BoE Proposed Budget at a Town Meeting on May 30, 2024, at 7 p.m.
If you have any questions or concerns about the budget, please feel free to contact me at school, gkeith@franklinschoolct.org or 860.941.7871.
Sincerely,
Mr. Greg Keith
This is a reminder that next Friday, June 7th, is FIELD DAY!!!
Please ensure your child brings a towel, a water bottle, and a snack. Students can wear a bathing suit under their clothes if they want. Don't forget to apply sunscreen at home and have your child wear a hat if needed. Also, a grab-and-go lunch will be provided. Remember, Friday is also a shortened day with a 1:00 pm dismissal. Parent pick-up will start at 12:55 pm.
Parents/Guardians are welcome to attend Field Day. If you plan to attend, please follow these guidelines and arrive no earlier than 8:30 am:
Notify your child(ren)'s teacher via email before Friday, June 7.
You can park in the soccer field parking lot or across the street at Giddings Park. Due to limited spaces for FES and GVS employees, on-site parking is reserved for staff members only.
Upon arrival, check-in at the main table across from the dunk tank for your visitor sticker. Every guest must wear a visible sticker.
Your child(ren) must stay with their group throughout the event. However, parents/guardians can spend time with another child's group at any time during the event.
Only staff members are allowed in the main part of the building during the event. Bathrooms for parents/guardians are in the gym hallway, while students will use the gym locker room bathrooms.
Sign-in and sign-out for parents and students are both at the main table.
We appreciate your cooperation and support in making this day special and fun for everyone. And please, let's all send positive vibes for a sunny day!
Thank you
