FES Families, It's finally happening!!! Volunteers welcome!!! Come join us for a day of community camaraderie. We are looking to get a group of skilled builders to help construct the new addition to the FES playground. We have compiled a list of time slots to sign up for and borrowed items needed for the build( please be advised, " YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN TOOLS). For those of you who would like to help but are not as handy we will send out another sign-up at a later date consisting mostly of refreshments for our builders. Please contact Cindy Satterfield via text at 202-525-0031 with any questions. Please review the available slots below and click on the button to sign up. - CLICK HERE.

We are looking for middle school students to read at the town's Memorial Day Program. In addition to reading at the program, students in grades 6-8 will be participating in an essay contest. Please let me know if your child is able to attend and would like to participate in the program, and I will forward their information to the Memorial Day Committee. Mrs. Flaherty, Grade 8 Teacher, pflaherty@franklinschoolct.org
FES Memorial Day Recognition—We will hold a Flag-Raising Ceremony on Friday, May 24, in recognition of Memorial Day at 8:45 am by our flag pole. The students will be wearing their Franklin Friends Patriot Necklaces, waving their own school-provided mini-American Flages, reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, and singing a patriotic song.
The Summer Band @ NFA camp is open to students from any town with at least one year of experience on their instruments! It's a week of music, fun, and friends, ending in a pizza party and concert on the last day! Students can register at nfaschool.org/summer
Dear FES Families,
The adjusted 24-25 Board of Education (BoE) Proposed Budget Presentation is now available. Due to a $150,588 reduction made during the April 30 Board of Finance meeting, we had to adjust the "Maintain Current Programming" portion of our budget proposal to a negative 2.29%.
I want to assure you that we have made every effort to avoid directly affecting student programming with this reduction. Please also know that we cannot reduce the proposals in special education, high school tuition, transportation, and staff benefits as they are required by law or contractual obligations. Please refer to Slide 22 of the presentation above for a detailed breakdown of the entire budget. Slide 22b shows where the reductions were made.
The Board of Finance approved our adjusted BoE Proposed Budget following the Town Hearing on May 9. The Franklin community will vote on the BoE Proposed Budget at a Town Meeting on May 30, 2024, at 7 p.m.
If you have any questions or concerns about the budget, please consider attending our Special BoE Budget Meeting on May 22 at 2 p.m. or feel free to contact me at school, gkeith@franklinschoolct.org or 860.941.7871.
Sincerely,
Mr. Greg Keith
