Wife, Mom, Daughter, Teacher

HOWDY! I am Mandy Gallego.  I graduated from Texas A&M in 2010 and have taught grades 3-8, math, science, writing, and social studies. This is my 14th year in education and I currently serve as the Math Specialist for Franklin ISD.

After returning home from college as a BIMS major, my younger sister would tell me how boring math was at school.  Her feelings towards math made me change my major to education in order to bring understanding and "fun" back to the subject. Kids understanding the why behind solving problems, finding multiple ways to arrive at the same answer and seeing light bulbs turn on when they "get it" are just a few things that fuel my passion for math.  After all, Larry Martinek  did say, "Children don't hate math. What they hate is being confused, intimidated and embarrassed by math. With understanding comes passion, and with passion comes growth - a treasure is unlocked."

My greatest life accomplishment and what I love the most is my family.  My husband teaches and coaches in Franklin and two of our three children attend Franklin schools. We enjoy spending time together, watching sports and being adventurous outside.  We are very blessed to be in Franklin.
