Welcome to the Frankfort Elementary School Counseling Program
My name is Rochelle Kreft, and I am the school counselor here at Frankfort Elementary. I'm grateful to work alongside our talented and dedicated team of educators all while building meaningful relationships with our students. I'm a graduate of Bear Lake Schools (2009) and earned my Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Positive Youth Development from Grand Valley State University. I went on to earn my Master's degree in Counseling Education: Counseling Psychology & School Counseling from Western Michigan University. I maintain current licensure as both a school counselor and a professional counselor (LPC). I have two awesomely unique daughter's who keep life interesting, busy and fun!
This site provides resources and information about our school counseling program to support both students and families. By sharing insights into our initiatives and evidence-based practices, I hope to strengthen the connection between school-based counseling and home support.
I'm committed to providing comprehensive social and emotional education to all students while fostering meaningful relationships with each individual. Research shows that schools implementing integrated social and emotional learning alongside core academics experience measurable improvements in student achievement, behavior, and overall well-being. Social and emotional skills are foundational competencies essential for success at every stage of development.
In addition to classroom lessons, I facilitate small group counseling sessions and individual counseling based on student needs. My position is partially grant-funded, which enables me to offer:
Brief individual counseling to all students as needed
Long-term counseling to a select group of students addressing qualifying issues such as mild anxiety or depression, only during the school year
Referrals may be submitted by school staff, parents, or students. For long-term counseling services, I work collaboratively with students and families to obtain parental consent and develop an individualized plan of care.
I welcome inquiries about specific resources, tools, or support. Please see my contact information at the bottom of this page.

Student confidentiality is a top priority of mine as your student's school counselor! It's important for students as well as you, the parent/caregiver, to know the limitations of confidential information shared by students with me. Everything students share with me is considered confidential unless the following is reported/occurs:
the student posesses a danger to themself or others
the student is being harmed by someone else
there is a court-ordered disclosure
if I need to consult with other professionals, such as school staff, supervisors, treatment teams or other personnel, in support of the student
the student participates in group counseling
