Welcome to Featherby!
We are so excited to spend time with you and your child, getting to know you and building those strong relationships, trust and understanding, before your child walks through the doors in September.
We have, as you can see, many activities to share with you both over the next few months and, over the coming weeks we will share sign up forms for each of our exciting transition events, so you can choose when to attend with your child.
6th May - 4pm to 5pm - Ready for Reception Roadshow
Our first event and our first opportunity for you and your child to come along and meet the team. We'll have a wealth of activities, games and additional organisations there - so you and your child can start to see what Reception is all about. This is where we'll also launch the MAT Ready for Reception checklist, a fun way you and your child can tick off all those skills and strengths, as we approach September.
11th - 18th May - timings to be confirmed - Storytime Sessions
We'll share more information and sign-up forms here in the coming weeks, but as we love a good book at Featherby we'll invite you to come in and share a short story with us (with themed activities afterwards). These short visits are so important as reading underpins learning so we believe in encouraging children to enjoy reading early at Featherby!
9th June - 2pm and 6pm - Choice of two Parent Information Meetings
Parents will be able to choose which time works best for them and come along to meet the team, learn about how we work together with you to support your child in the first years of education, gain a better understanding of learning in EYFS and ask any questions you may have. We'll add the sign-up forms here in the coming weeks so you can tell us when you're coming.
25th and 26th June - timings to be confirmed - Teddy Bears' Picnic
One of our favourite transition events at Featherby, as we love nothing more than getting our wellies on and playing in the forest school area! This is a fun and interactive session for children and their parents to come and enjoy the outside learning areas, bring their teddies along for a bear hunt and bring a little picnic snack to share afterwards with their adults and new friends. We'll add the sign-up forms here in the coming weeks so you can tell us when you're coming.
Stay and Play sessions - dates and timings to be confirmed
Later in the Summer (once we've spent time with your child, seen the budding friendships forming between the children and worked out which class groupings would work best) we will plan for Stay and Play sessions, when you'll bring your child in to school and stay for a cuppa whilst they play in their new classroom with their new classmates and teacher. More information will follow in the coming weeks.
