We are very much looking forward to meeting you all properly over the coming months, and to you officially joining the Brooklands family from September.
We would like to share with you a few dates for transition events that will be taking place before the Summer holiday, in order to ensure your child’s start with us is as smooth and supportive as possible.
Ready for Reception! Wednesday 10th June, 9:15-11:30
(Children & Parent/Carer to attend together)
Children are invited into the classroom, to play and take part in various activities and meet their teacher and teaching assistant. Once you have settled your child, we invite you to meet the Headteacher and Early Years Leads in the BUFA. This is a chance for us to share key information with you ahead of your child starting with us, including what a normal day in Reception will look like, specific information about what your child will need to bring, and how you can best support them with their transition to school. We also have the Young Greenwich School Nursing Team coming to share a workshop about school readiness. After this we will meet all together out on the grass for a drink and snack - the children are invited to bring a cuddly toy to join the teddy bears picnic!
Timings for Wednesday 10th June
9.15 - 10:45 - Stay and Play for children. Please bring your children to the main school gate. Once you have settled your child into the class, make your way to the BUFA for the headteacher welcome and workshop. It will be an opportunity to meet other parents and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee!
10:45 - 11:15 -Teddy bears picnic on the grass (children and parents/carers together, we will provide snacks!)
Home Visits: Monday 22nd, Tuesday 23rd and Thursday 25th June
You will be sent a date and time for this individually and you will be allocated either a morning or an afternoon visit.
These are a chance for us to meet families 1:1, and are focused on the Reception team building a connection with each child in their home environment and ensuring you know how to help your child be reception ready. They are also a good chance for you to discuss anything with us that you did not mention during the group transition events.
Brooklands School Fair: Saturday 27th June
Please come along if you can, it would be lovely to see you!
Lots of stalls, BBQ and bar and a great way to meet fellow parents and the staff. Family fun in a relaxed environment.
Transition Days: Thursday 3rd and Friday 4th September
These will be shorter days as the children are getting used to being in school.
On Thursday 3rd of September the children will spend the morning with us from 08:40-11:45. Gates open each morning at 08:30.
On Friday 4th of September they will stay with us for lunch, and should be collected at 12:45 (08:40-12:45).
