Hey folks!
Band Camp 2022 is COMING! We are full of nervous anticipation as the FPMB will be making it's return this summer. After the abbreviated and much edited version of band camp last year, I wanted to remind everyone of what they need to be successful. PLEASE make sure you spend some time outside while the sun is out before camp starts. Your body won't be so miserable after the first day if you do. Also, spend some time outside while doing a physical activity. Believe me, you will be thankful for it!
Our goals for the camp are: 1st week - All of show music learned, and half of drill set. 2nd week - All drill finished and fight song, some stand tunes learned. These are achievable goals, if you work to make it happen. You should already have music so please look at it BEFORE camp starts, so begin looking, learning, and memorizing!

Rookie Camp (First year marchers)
July 12-13
9AM-12PM (Leadership in at 8AM)
Rookie camp is for any instrument player that has never marched with the FPHS Band before. The camp is simply an introduction to marching, getting the basics explained before Band Camp. This is super important for new members so they do not feel overwhelmed on the first day of band camp.
Members will dress in comfortable clothes (t-shirt, shorts) and wear closed toe athletic shoes. No boots, flip flops, crocs, sandals, etc. Be sure to bring sunscreen (for outside) and a bottle of water (no soft drinks/juice). It is recommended that you bring a bottle you can refill.
Please be prepared to go outside. Many of you haven’t seen the light of the morning sun since school let out. Be ready! Wear a hat and bring some sunglasses!! Please also make sure you have eaten breakfast (don’t chug milk) and drink water the night before to help keep hydrated.
Band Camp Reminders:
Marching Band is an outdoor activity. Be prepared to spend the majority of your time outside every day. This means sunscreen, water, hat, proper footwear, and proper clothing.
Eat Breakfast! Do not show up with an empty stomach. You will need energy for the day. Eat dinner the night before as well. Most of you haven’t been outside moving around so your body will not be ready; so feed it! (Avoid drinking lots of milk in the AM)
Bring a water bottle/jug/camelback etc for water. You will have access to water for refills but you will need to bring something to fill.
Footwear must be closed toe (no flops/crocs/chacos/etc). Tennis shoes/sneakers/athletic shoes are appropriate. No boots. You must wear footwear.
You will need to bring lunch/have lunch brought to you each day for band camp. Lunch is 12-1pm. No soft drinks, we need to stay hydrated.
Dinner is provided, and a menu will be given as we get closer to the start of camp. If you do not like what is on the menu, you will need to bring an alternative.
