Mrs. Perkins' Classroom Website
My name is Mrs. Perkins and I am thrilled to be one of Purdy Elementary School's 4th grade classroom teachers! I graduated from Winona State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Social Studies Middle Level. I began my teaching career teaching 3rd and 6th graders in the Mukwonago Area School District. I am excited to begin my third year in the wonderful school district of Fort Atkinson!
My goal as a teacher is to make sure that my students know it is okay to make mistakes, as long as we ask questions and learn from them. I want my students to continue to discover and ask questions. I strive to inspire my students to become life-long learners and a kind friend to everyone!
While away from school, I enjoy playing tennis, camping, hiking, and biking. I spend lots of my summer time outside with family and friends. I also have a passion to travel. I was lucky enough to go on a Travel Study with my University in college to teach in Jamaica. I had the opportunity to teach Jamaican students all about ice fishing and snow (which they had never seen before). It was a truly amazing to experience the differences and similarities between education systems in each country. I plan to continue traveling the world, bringing experiences of culture back to Purdy Elementary School. This summer I also traveled to Maui, Hawaii. It was one of the most adventurous places I had ever been. I can't wait to share with my students some of the amazing nature and scenery I saw while I was there.
I was inspired to be a teacher by my mother, a special education teacher, as well as my father, a physical education teacher. They were both extremely passionate about teaching and showed me how truly exciting it is to watch a student be successful.
