Exploring Engineering and Technology students will use the Engineering Design Process and experimentation to solve a variety of technological problems. Students will participate in engineering design challenges to understand how criteria, constraints, and processes affect designs.
Students will study the history of inventions and innovations, their impact on society, and how technologies have changed over time. Students will also examine the process for patenting and protecting their inventions and innovations.
Technological Systems is designed to introduce students to systems and processes to develop an understanding of the impact of technology on humans, the environment, and the global community. By investigating systems through their function, design, and development, students will understand what systems are, why they are developed, and how the knowledge of “systems thinking” can be used in the design and production of prototypes.
This program facilitates basic level student led broadcast/video productions under the guidance of the instructor. Topics covered may include, but are not limited to: history of mass media, terminology, safety, basic equipment, script writing, storyboarding, production teams, planning, writing, directing, recording and editing a production, graphic communications, and professional ethics.
