You don't only have to read fiction. Biographies and autobiographies make for great stories - about real lives! Nonfiction books about things that are interesting to you make great reading as well.
Remember that Manga, Graphic Novels, and comics all count as reading. Don't forget to let Mrs. Bryson know if there is a series, book, or magazine you would like us to have in our Media Center!

What books will work best for YOU!
I know most of the words. Any unfamiliar words do not interfere with my ability to understand the story.
I understand what I’m reading. I can tell someone about it, or write down my thinking about what I have read.
I am focused and engaged. THIS IS FUN!
I have a movie going in my head. I can picture the interactions between characters, and I “see” the setting the author has created.
I can read with expression. If someone asked me to read it aloud, I would be able to read it with emphasis and understanding.
My reading pace is consistent. I do not read fast or slow. The pace is just right.
I can summarize what I have read. I can explain the main ideas of the book to a friend.
It challenges my thinking a little. Sometimes I have to stop and think - now and again I need to reread parts of it.
