Aggie Pride Band

Welcome to the NEW official website of the

FCAHS Aggie Pride Band!

The Aggie Pride

The FCAHS Aggie Pride Band is located in Brooklyn, MS at Forrest County Agricultural High School. The band is made up of about 50 high school students in grades 9-12 who play wind, string, and percussion instruments and perform in the color guard. The Aggie Pride can be found making music all year in the Fine Arts Building on campus, but they also make appearances at Aggie Football games as well as local parades and exhibitions.

COVID-19 Updates

March 31, 2020

Hi everyone! I hope that you and your family members are safe and healthy during these very uncertain times. Please remember that if you need anything at all, don't hesitate to reach out! The best way to reach me is through email, Remind, or at my Google Voice number: 601-658-0725 (call or text).

As of this week, the teachers at FCAHS are getting started with providing learning opportunities to our classes even though the physical building is closed until at least April 17th. The expectation is that you will check email and Google Classroom to receive your assignments. (If you don't have internet access, a paper packet will be provided for you.) Because the nature of band class is so group oriented, we've had to change our focus a little bit for these assignments and opportunities. When we begin to post in Google Classroom, you'll see that we're giving you lots of information for independent learning - how to clean/sanitize instruments, learning new scales and tunes, and even a chance to suggest some music you'd like to play in the future. You'll also start to see some resources (in the For Students section) on our newly updated webpage for the band!

Ms. Batley and I would also like to provide the opportunity to meet, gather, and receive instruction for anyone who can take advantage of it. Every day from 1:30-3:00 (band time!) we'll be available on Google Meet - we'll post a link to join the Meet each day in Google Classroom. Starting tomorrow (Wednesday 4/1), Tues/Thurs will simply be open for students to "hang out" with each other and M/W/F we'll focus on answering questions, giving feedback, or even individual lessons if anyone is interested!

So what does this indefinite closure mean for us in band world? Let me answer some common questions...

  • State Concert Evaluation has been cancelled. Please don't let this discourage you! We've worked so, so, so hard and learned a TON about playing as an ensemble so far this year. Every bit of work we did was worth it.
  • FCAHS Alumni Homecoming has been cancelled.
  • The Pops Concert - originally scheduled for May 7 - is dependent on if/when we return to school with enough time to prepare some music. It may be a combination of our evaluation program as well as some Pops music.
  • Graduation has not yet been cancelled or postponed, but again, it is dependent on if/when we return to school. If FCAHS holds a graduation ceremony, we will perform.
  • If you still have chocolate or money from our World's Finest Chocolate fundraiser, please continue to hold on to it for now. If the closure is extended past April 17th, we will create a plan to get it all turned in.
  • If you need an instrument, any music, or a classroom Chromebook, please get in touch with us and we will get it to you. The administration has made an exception for us to make that happen.

Stay safe! We'll talk to you soon!

Ms. Pitts
