Forney High School invites you to join us for our annual Jackrabbit Jamboree Invitational meet for competition in all academic events on November 16, 2024!
November 16th Forney High School will host our very first invitational meet, but don't let that deter you! It will be anything but chaotic! The organized, obsessive traits of our UIL team can't be beat. The Forney Jackrabbit Jamboree of 2024 will be a success, and we want you to be a part of it.
Organization, incredible cuisine, clear communication, and a GUARANTEED (you heard me) in your bus and headed out of Forney, Texas by 5:00pm: what more could you ask for from a UIL meet? The catch? No speech events or hands-on Comp. Sci. To counter this sad circumstance, we plan to offer unlimited entries every event (until we run out of computers for writing events).
This tournament is a practice tournament in which competitors will receive feedback in subjective events, practice in tested events, and gain experience in the UIL Academics world. Our goal for this tournament is to support students and coaches alike to become comfortable in this setting in tandem with competition to mimic district competition.
Test Vendors include:
Hexco: Accounting, CIE, Social Studies, Spelling
APlus: Computer Science (written only)
TMSCA Math, NS, Calc. Apps., and Science: 11/16 test set
MRC: Ready Writing
Forney: Literary Criticism (District-level, Bernier-style test. Sample of one of these tests can be found here.)
Forney: Journalism: our 3x consecutive State-winning Journalism Coach, Jon Nielsen, will write UIL-style prompts for all Journalism events.
We will award custom Sweepstakes trophies for the 1st and 2nd place Sweepstakes competition and team plaques for 1st place winners in team events. 1st and 2nd place team members will also receive medals. Individual winners for both team and individual events will be awarded medals 1st-6th.
Our Journalism coach, Jon Nielsen, will host a ~2 hour Journalism Learning Workshop for $25/student before the Journalism events begin. Mr. Nielsen has taken students to State 3/3 times in his three years at Forney, coming away with two champions, a 4th place, and a 6th place finish, with three different students. Mr. Nielsen will teach students about each of the five Journalism events and how to be successful in them. We recommend bringing beginner and intermediate students to this workshop.
