Currently leading the ECC, the Anderson girls' golf team has started off their season with excellence. Winning the conference preview on August 7th has set the team on a great run. The golfers beat Lakota West, Lebanon, Cincinnati Country Day, Loveland, Turpin, and Milford which handed them four points in the ECC.
The Raptor golfers all “bond like sisters, all of us have grown up with each other, which makes us really close,” Sophie Straley (12) said.
The seniors played the past three years together; growing up with each other and helping with their team’s chemistry and bonding. They have “improved consistently, almost 10 strokes less” each year, Ayla Brugger (12) said.
The Raptors have six more matches this year, one more invite and the ECC post-season, which they are projected to win. With a growing team, there's no doubt that the Raptor golfers will continue to outperform conference competition and have a promising shot at state.
Overall, the team has very talented players that can always count on each other.
“If one of us does bad[ly], we have another one to fall back on, just because our scores are so good,” Brugger (12) said.
Anderson girls' golf is set apart from their competition by their determination and “willingness to get better,” Ellie Lamkin (11) said.
Each of these young women have the same goal of doing their very best. Their attitudes have pushed them beyond their skills to succeed.
