With the 2024-25 school year ending, summer excitement is quickly approaching. When summer begins, you might feel yourself starting to get lazy and lose the routine your body sets throughout the school year. You might feel as though you have all the time in the world to complete the things you want throughout the summer. However, summer moves quickly, and you must start your summer off productively to make it worthwhile.
The first way to establish a fun and productive summer is by implementing a routine to keep your mind and body healthy. This can be by being active, reading books, being present, and doing the things you love. Some places you can go to enjoy some outdoor scenery are Hocking Hills, Red River Gorge, Lake Isabella, East Fork & Stone Lake, and Woodland Mound; all these places are fun outdoor establishments to take your family and friends, or even just by yourself.
Don’t forget to enjoy your time indoors. There are always those days when it’s just too hot to be outside and you need something to do inside, in the cool AC. There's nothing wrong with taking a day in and spending the day being lazy. However, making that a daily routine will not benefit you in the future. Taking time for yourself is always a good way to spend the day. This could be by taking the time to read one of your favorite books or watch one of your favorite movies. Spending quality time alone can also be beneficial to your health. Some people think that being alone is a sign of loneliness and discomfort, but being alone is just as important as spending time with the people you love.
Summertime gives you what seems like unlimited time to accomplish anything you choose. Make sure you give yourself stuff to do and look forward to, while also completing the non-optional tasks you might dread, for instance, summer reading. Although summer reading can be easy to procrastinate and sometimes even something you don’t complete, you can make it more enjoyable by managing your time and incorporating it into something you enjoy doing. You could read a book by the pool or beach, even in your backyard. Other things you might procrastinate could be getting a summer job, internships, or maybe starting your college essays. Remember, it’s much easier to do these things in the summer when you have less to worry about. Doing these tasks now will make your life less stressful when you get busier, and return to school in the fall.
Before summer comes to a close, there are many things you can do to set yourself up for the future. Remember, participating in activities you love has proven to benefit you and overall improve your body’s health, but taking advantage of the time to complete stressful tasks throughout the summer will cause less stress in the future.
