Although golf doesn't strike people as the most exciting sport, it has several overlooked benefits. If you asked people what they think of golf, they would probably tell you it's boring and you shouldn't play it. I would disagree and here is why.
Reason One - It’s good for your body
The average golf course requires around five miles of walking, but you're not just walking. You also carry or push your golf clubs, adding extra weight to your five-mile walk. Most golf courses aren't just flat either; you will also come across hills you have to walk up and down. Even if you opt out of walking the course and decide to ride in a golf cart, you're still moving your body in a way that requires strength. The golf swing is a full-body workout using your arms, legs, and core.
Reason Two - You can play it at an older age
Most sports are hard to continue once you hit a certain age, but golf is a lifetime sport. Since playing golf is low-impact, it allows older people to play without having to worry about receiving an injury or extreme soreness. A fun game that several older people like to play is attempting to shoot their age, which is a great accomplishment.
Reason Three - Great way to help with business networking
If you’re in the business world, you probably want to be involved in the golf world as well. Being able to golf gives you access to a large network of business professionals to connect with. According to PGA of America, ninety-three percent of pros say that golfing with a colleague or client is a great way to create a closer and more trusted bond. The relaxed atmosphere of the golf course can allow for conversations not to be all business. If you are looking for a way to attract clients, a great way to do so is to host or sponsor an outing or tournament.
Reason Four - Golfers are known to be hard-working people
Golf, unlike many other sports, is more individualized. Even when you are playing for a golf team, you’re playing individually. This creates a strong work ethic in a golfer. In golf, you are constantly trying to beat your previous best score, so you’re constantly pushing yourself to be your best.
These are only a few reasons why you should play golf. I know it's not the most action-packed sport; but in the long run, it is a sport that is fit for everyone.
