The 2025 Academic Pep rally will take place Friday, March 28th, after 3rd bell - at a different point in the day than years past, when it fell after bell 1. This event, usually held the day before Spring Break, seeks to excite students before their time off. The event is unique to Anderson High School. Science teacher Mr. Good has been in charge of this event for multiple years in a row, but not without the help of the faculty at Anderson.
As the school year begins to wind down, the Academic Pep Rally will recognize the outstanding academic achievements students have made in the first three quarters of the 2024-25 school year. The pep rally often involves teachers performing various trending acts and dances.
Mrs. Donohue, whose singing is a highlight for many students at Pep Rallies, stated that this year's theme will be “Vacation.”
“It’s going to be a different genre of music that students will want to sing along to,” Donohue said.
From setting up backdrops and stages to assembling the perfect-fit costume, the pep rally takes immense amounts of preparation from staff members that students don’t necessarily see.
“The staff starts getting ready right as the theme is decided because people have to figure out their costumes and what they are doing,” Donohue said.
Mr. Lunn, a member of the English department, says that his role this year will be singing.
“I sing, but I’m not very good. I bring the enthusiasm, but Mrs. Donohue has all the talent,” Lunn said.
Last year's pep rally included many performances that included singing and dancing all based on different playlists, as the theme was "Playlist. This year, students can expect teachers and staff performing their hearts out to perform musical numbers and bring the "vacation" theme to life to celebrate student academic achievements from this school year.
