Toby Strausbaugh (12) emerges from the huddle as the clock runs down to start the game.
As the school basketball period comes to a close, the Anderson men’s team reflects on a refined season from last year.
Leading the Raptors in the 2025-2026 season are senior Toby Strausbaugh and new junior addition to the team, Tysin Weaver.
Both men are top ten in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference for scoring: Strausbaugh is sixth (15.6 ppg), and Weaver is eighth (14.4 ppg). Strausbaugh leads the conference in rebounds (8.9 rpg), and Weaver appears eighth in assists (2.5 apg).
The team not only improved relative to their stats, but they also grew more unified as a team compared to previous years.
Varsity player Landen Belka (11) believes that dedication to the team effort is a contributing factor in the team’s improvement.
“I feel like we had more talent last year, but had more success this year because people are more engaged and actually want to win,” Belka (11) said.
The beginning of the men’s season was marked by three games in one week, which was a challenge for the team. However, the adversity faced was used to build off of as the season progressed.
“Three games in one week was a lot for us… [After] helping the team out and helping them overcome that week, [we could] then build past that,” senior Nate Brugger said.
