Wei Chen

Welcome to my website!

I am a Ph.D. candidate in Economics at Fordham University and a visiting researcher at the Computational and Digital Lab at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research. Meanwhile, I am also a Master’s candidate in Computer Science (CS) at the University of Pennsylvania, specializing in Data Science.

I am an applied microeconomist. Broadly stated, my research focuses on Public, Health and Demographic Economics using nontraditional data and techniques of Machine Learning (ML). I have been primarily focused on the effect of aging on individual decision making, particularly in the context of decisions regarding labor supply and financial behaviors. My research also explores how health-related events impact demography, such as the current pandemic on future fertility in the United States.

I am currently on the job market and available for interviews at or after the (virtual) 2021 ASSA meetings.
