Choosing Units of Measurement
Metres, Centimetres and Millimetres
length - measures a distance. It can be measured in metres (m), centimetres (cm) and millimetres (mm).
mass - measures how much matter is in an object. It can be measured in grams (g) and kilograms (kg).
capacity - measures how much liquid a container can hold. It can be measured in litres (L) and millilitres (mL).
area - the amount of space enclosed in a 2D shape. This can be measured in square millimetres (mm²)
square centimetres (cm²) and square metres (m²).
volume - the amount of space enclosed in a 3D shape. This can be measured in cubic millimetres (mm³), cubic centimetres (cm³) and square metres (m³).
