Decimal Place Value
Decimals on the Number Line
Tenth - a small part of a whole number, ten times smaller than one unit. Recorded in the first decimal place.
Hundredth - a small part of a whole number, one hundred times smaller than one unit. Recorded in the second decimal place.
Less than < “is smaller than”. For instance, 3 < 4 means “three is smaller than 4 "
Greater than > “is larger than”. For instance, 10 > 6 means “10 is larger than 6”
Ascending Order In order from smallest to largest eg. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
Descending Order In order from largest to smallest eg. 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1
