Making Scatter Plots
Correlation Over Two Data Sets
Correlation Between Two Variables
Time Series
Scatter Plot - A Scatter (XY) Plot has points that show the relationship (correlation) between two sets of data.
Correlation - Sets of data are said to be correlated when a change in one data set seems to match to a change in another data set.
Positive correlation - Correlation is Positive when the values increase together
Negative correlation - Correlation is Negative when one value decreases as the other increases
Coincidental correlations - a correlation between the amount of cheese eaten in a year and the height of the oldest person that year is coincidental, as these two data sets are likely to have nothing to do with each other.
Causal correlations - a correlation between age and height is causal, as most people get taller as they age. Causal correlations occur when a change in one data set causes a change in the other.
