Meet the Directors
Chris Barnes directs Symphonic Winds and Percussion, Concert Band, and teaches CAPP courses in Advanced Music Theory and Rock History. A 2013 graduate of UW-La Crosse, Chris continued his education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln earning a Master's Degree in Wind Band Conducting.
While at Nebraska he worked with the 300 member Cornhusker Marching Band and had the opportunity to design a field show for the band that was performed in front of 92,000 people (the third largest population in the state).
Over the summer months, Chris is a sought after music arranger and marching band field show designer. As a performer Chris has been a featured soloist with the UW-La Crosse Wind Ensemble, La Crosse Concert Band, University of Nebraska Symphonic Band, FHS Symphonic Winds and Percussion, Fond du Lac Symphonic Band and the Germantown Community Band's 2016 Tour of Germany.
When not with his 170 kids at school he spends his time with his two boys, Hudson and Beau, and his wonderful wife Holly.

Jake Opperman has been involved in the world of music since he first picked up a saxophone in 5th grade. Originally from Manitowoc, WI, Opperman attended UW Stevens Point, pursuing degrees in Instrumental Music Education and Jazz Studies: Performance (Woodwind Emphasis). After spending his student teaching semester at Fond du Lac High School, he taught for one year at Brillion High School, and is now excited to be back in the program that helped give him his start!
Opperman's role at Fond du Lac High School includes directing Symphony Band, Jazz III, Jazz I, teaching Jazz Studies, Advanced Jazz Studies, Co-directing Concert Band, and teaching woodwind lessons.
When not teaching, he can be found spending his time performing with a number of different bands across the state including, Boogie and the Yo-yo'z, Same Same But Different, Jazz For 90's Kids, Water City Jazz Orchestra, and the Lighthouse Big Band.
