Year 7 pupils developed confidence in expressing themselves through the e-pal exchanges and demonstrated increased curiosity about the lives of their international partners. As the project continued into Year 8, pupils reflected on the responses they had received, allowing discussions to move beyond simple introductions towards deeper conversations about identity, traditions and everyday life.
This project supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Quality Education (SDG 4) and Global Partnership (SDG 17), by encouraging pupils to learn directly from young people in other parts of the world. Through exchanging letters, students explore each other’s local areas, compare daily life in their countries, and build a deeper understanding of global diversity. These conversations help develop empathy, cultural curiosity, and a sense of shared responsibility — key values at the heart of sustainable development.

Students enjoyed learning about the different festivals in Nepal and loved the beautiful displays or work that they received.
