Students learn about immigration through various lenses. We look at big questions, consider the history of migration, as well as some of the problems and challenges that it causes, coming up with possible solutions.Students look at all the information and discuss in assemblies and lessons, as well as from each subject point of view/perspective/strength. Started in Year 7 geography in Term 5, then English link into this in Term 6 Students also revisit the concepts in year 8 and 9 following this.

In this cross-curricular project students learn about the power of media in influencing our perceptions, our choices, our decisions, our world. We consider some of the problems and challenges that information/misinformation can cause and pose possible solutions. We look at the danger of a single story in creating misconceptions and preconceived ideas about peoples, we look at echo chambers, fake news, deep fakes and how vital it is to use critical thinking skills, seeing through the hype, question everything and always looking at the source of information and the voices that are not represented there. We use resources like 'Africa or Not' and 'In others' shoes'. We have assemblies, whole school and community projects linked to this activity.
