Professor Lobna Farid

Dear FOC Community

Over the past eight months, we have become acutely aware many times that we are surrounded by amazing people: students dedicated to their learning and supporting each other and their families; Faculty who innovate and develop themselves to ensure the student experience is as great as possible; Staff working in very challenging situations and conditions - juggling multiple responsibilities and working overtime to ensure business continuity and student service; Officials who take a measured approach to ensuring our collective interests; and alumni and College Board members who continue to demonstrate their commitment to our students. The Covid-19 pandemic has brought out the best in us – remarkable agility, resilience, and caring for each other. Thanks to everyone I mentioned here.

Despite the ongoing challenges posed by the pandemic, we are advancing our mission of providing the best business education to our students. We have made significant improvements to both our undergraduate and postgraduate curricula for the 2020/2021 academic year. These changes are market-driven, based on extensive input from faculty, staff, alumni, current students, and employer partners with Cairo University's Faculty of Commerce. Together with the Dean's Advisory Team and our stakeholders, we are expanding our capabilities to strengthen our students' short-term preparedness and preparedness for post-pandemic shifts in the business environment.

For undergraduate students, the college offers them four degree programs that are compatible with the needs of the labor market (they are: the bachelor’s program taught in English, the joint bachelor’s program with Georgia State University, the bachelor’s program in actuarial science, and the bachelor’s program taught in Arabic). . Because of the uniqueness of these four programs, our international student population is growing and comes from a variety of countries. The college administration also plans to combine education with practical training in order to prepare our graduates for the rapidly changing requirements of the labor market. The College of Commerce also devotes its efforts extensively to employing a distinguished elite of faculty members who provide the latest knowledge in teaching and scientific research and transfer it to students.

Earlier this month, we also announced several important improvements to our graduate programs. We have made a major change aimed at meeting the needs of students, employers, and the college, reducing the time it takes to complete a degree, graduate, and obtain degrees. In addition, the college's graduate program offers expanded student engagement experiences and a variety of services for graduate students. Students will also have enhanced opportunities to build community on campus and online through personalized experiences around insights into industry trends and anticipated career paths through increased access to leaders, alumni and employers. Improvements will also continue to be made at the postgraduate level across all of its programs for international students.

The pillar of success of our students and more than millions of college graduates throughout Egypt and the Middle East and North Africa region, and in the midst of the past 111 years of painstaking work in teaching business, accounting and insurance sciences; And through our faculty who bring unique leadership and experience-based knowledge to the classroom. As leaders and thinkers in their industry, their knowledge and research contributions help drive change both at the university and around the world.

I would like to warmly invite all of you who are interested in expanding their knowledge, enriching their careers and exploring our college further either online: www.foc.cu.edu.eg or by visiting the college at the Giza Campus.

So there is a lot to look forward to, and this academic year will see the College of Commerce continue to develop, building on the strength of its reputation among the government and business community and its growing alumni population. We will continue to grow and improve our programs and will also welcome new faculty partners and, as always, new students. together.
